My career began in 1961 at the age of 10 when I was introduced to sun photography (=a method of creating photographs by exposing light-sensitive paper to sunlight with negatives or drawings placed in close contact) It evolved further when my father gifted me a half-size format camera.
Over the course of 62 years, I have engaged in various genres of photography, including scientific photography, and have also been involved professionally in
lens design, projector design, and other related fields.
From these experiences, I've come to contemplate the following:
"You won't know until you take the photo; even if you take it, it might not capture what you expect." This insight is likely familiar to those who have
experienced the era of film photography.
"Even if you believe something is new, innovative, and groundbreaking, the excitement may not persist after taking the photo, checking it on the monitor, or
reviewing it the next day or several days later. It's a cycle of repetition." Photography has been practiced for approximately 200 years since its inception, involving adjustments to aperture, shutter speed, and photographic plates. The act of deciding where to point the camera, capturing popular places, subjects,
and individuals, has been a repetitive process. At a certain point, I began to wonder if perhaps it was time to explore something new. In the realm of visual
arts, various genres, such as representational art evolving into abstract expressionism, surrealism, and concrete GUTAI expressions, have depicted the
imaginative and unreal. I, too, felt the desire for such liberated expression at the age of 70. So, with determination, I embarked on a new artistic challenge. Instead of sketching with a pencil, I use a camera for my sketches. I create by expressing the light and colors as I perceive them, embracing a method that
allows me to convey my emotions authentically.
