Artwork History

Ku Watanabe had a lot of chance to interact with arts for her early age, being influenced by her mother who used to join exhibitions as a calligraphy artist inside and outside Japan.
In the past Ku was a ceramic artist, but since her retirement, she has become more devoted to working in oil, acrylic paintings and original three-dimensional works, having a sense of collaboration of two worlds by living two countries, Japan and Hawaii.
Her works have been accepted at numerous juried exhibitions in each country.
Originally Ku painted mainly sceneries in natural colors. She recently began challenging new styles of expressing matured emotion including tension and release using concentrated lines, less color with large open spaces on canvases. Moreover, she also has been developing a new direction to give some messages in landscape with monochrome as a technique.
